  • The goal of this training is to improve your company’s ability to recruit and maintain a strong and productive team of staff. You’ll learn how to evaluate your company’s current approach and gain an understanding of the factors that contribute to the success of your sector peers. You’ll discover new tools and processes and benefit from ongoing feedback as you apply what you’ve learned to your company.

  • This course is designed for companies that provide landscape and horticulture services throughout Ontario. Owners and managers responsible for hiring and developing staff, specifically those with the authority to make changes to your company’s policies and procedures, are best suited to attend this training.

  • This program is at no cost to participants. As an Employment Ontario program GROW is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.

  • All applicants will be notified ahead of the program start date.

  • The intention of the Employer of Choice Program is to create a safe and constructive environment for learning and sharing among participants. All program participants will be required to abide by a code of conduct that includes maintaining the confidentiality of information shared by other members of the program.

  • Yes.

  • Participants are expected to implement changes to their businesses throughout the course. Therefore, we only accept managers with that authority.

  • To support participation of as many LO members as possible, at this time participation is limited to a maximum of two people per company.

  • Each 90-minute training session takes place on Zoom. At the scheduled time, simply click the link provided by GROW and join with your personal Zoom account. Don’t have a Zoom account? No problem. GROW can help you sign up for a free Zoom account before your training begins. GROW is also available throughout the program to help with any technical issues you may experience. All you need is internet access and a reliable device.

  • GROW staff are here to help. Throughout your training, GROW staff can help you test and troubleshoot your any technical issues you may experience.

  • Training material, including presentation slides for your training sessions, is provided for download after each session. However, the most valuable parts of your training are the commentary and discussions during your 90-minute interactive training sessions. In the event your internet cannot accommodate the full Zoom experience for any session we recommend that you join by phone (details will provided by GROW for each session) or use your Zoom for audio only. GROW is also available to help you test and troubleshoot your your internet and device at any time.

  • Attendance is mandatory for all sessions. However, GROW staff will work to accommodate instances where circumstances are outside your control.

  • We understand the nature of the work can sometimes be unpredictable. GROW staff will work to accommodate those affected by snow removal or circumstances outside your control.
